South Bohemian folklore ensemble Kovářovan
The folklore ensemble Kovářovan was founded in 1984. Since 1997 it’s been registered as a civil association. The ensemble is trying to preserve the folklore traditions of the region of Kovářov and to develop the public life through many other activities.
They are concerned in keeping folk songs, dances and folkways of the regions of Kozácko (Táborsko-Milevsko) alive. At the performances they present beautiful costumes of Kozákov region, which are unique mainly by their rich decorations and embroideries on the singers’skirts.
The motifs for their work are taken especially from the collections of Čeněk Holas and Čeněk Zíbrt, the natives of Kovářov.
The civil association consists of adult ensemble Kovářov, children ensembles Kovářovánek and Malý Kovářovan and dramatic group Podkova
