Prchalov [ Cadastral territory ]

Contrary to the majority of villages of the region Prchalov is not situated in a valley along a brook but on a small knoll about 2 km northwest from Příbor at a height of 308 m; therefore it often suffered from lack of water. Prchalov belongs to the youngest villages of the domain of Hukvaldy because it was founded on the parceled-out land of a previous lordship court at Skotnice in 1787-1798. The new settlers were placed in the parish of the neighbouring Příbor where their children also attended the school. In the first half of the 19th century iron ore was extracted for a short period of time on the cadastre of the municipality, however, its inhabitants lived mostly from agriculture and to a lesser degree weaver´s and draper´s trade. Later they found jobs in the factories in Kopřivnice, Příbor and Ostrava. Before WW I some of the inhabitants moved out to America. In 1850 Prchalov was a settlement of Skotnice and from 1867 a separate municipality, that became a local part of Příbor on January 1, 1976.
