Radegast [ Statue, sculptural group or sculpture ]
The Radhošť mountain is traditionally connected with the worship of the pagan god of hospitality, productivity and fertility, Radegast. The statue was dedicated on the 5th of July 1931. It is a work by the native of Frenštát, the sculptor Albín Polášek, who spent most of his life in the United States of America. Nowadays there is only a replica of the statue made of granite which is situated on a pedestal. The original of the statue made of sandstone can be found in the entrance hall of the town hall in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. It took two years for the monumental mason Jan Sobek to carve out the granite statue of Radegast.
